The night in February of 2000 when Ann Wolfe proved WBAN absolutely wrong!

The night in February of 2000 when Ann Wolfe proved me absolutely wrong! On February 11, 2000, on an all-female boxing card in Kenner, Louisiana, Ann Wolfe took a fight against veteran boxer Mary Ann Almager. Wolfe was fairly new with three pro fights at the time. I recall at the time that I was concerned about her fighting a veteran boxer as Almager and remember voicing my concern. But Wolfe proved me wrong when she TKO’d Almager in 41 seconds!

Wolfe hit Almager with I believe an uppercut, that sent Almager to the floor for an eight-count. The fight continued for a few more seconds when Almager, still dazed from the previous shot was on the ropes. This fight was not televised on ESPN as the other female fights were as it was one of the first fights on the card to take place—This may in fact be the only video of the one-round TKO online. WBAN is beginning to publish videos, past events, and documentation of the sport on YouTube, WBAN, and the WBANmember.com site that is a huge historical database of women’s Boxing.
