Documentation on Stories, Releases: Laila Ali vs. Ann Wolfe – 2003

(OCT 14) The boxing world has been a buzzin’ since WBAN posted the story that the Wolfe vs. Ali Fight was not going to happen. WBAN has had many sides giving their thoughts about the cancellation of this fight.

Harry Murdock of Team Mahfood sent in a statement in regards to working with Absoloot Boxing and RPM boxing, and this is what he wanted to say:

“I,  Harry Murdock,  have personally negotiated fights with both Absoloot Boxing, Chris Middledorf, RPM Boxing and Brian Pardo. Both of these companies and people were not difficult to deal with so I am having a hard time understanding the problems.

Fact #1 Chris Middledorf and Yahya have done 101% of everything they told us they would do.

Fact #2 Absoloot Boxing has paid us better than any other promoters has.

Fact #3 Ann Wolfe’s purse has never been near $200,000 for a fight. 99% of men or women do not make that kind of money. Not to say it is not deserved by Ann.

Fact #4 Laila is not afraid of Ann. She watched Valerie go 10 with Ann and she managed to stop Valerie twice. As for Valerie being to small “B.S.” Valerie has fought her whole career at 168 lbs. (Just TKO’d a 212 lb. girl) Ann fought most of here career at 160# or less.

Fact #5 I have never promoted a fight but RPM has and they if all people should know that sponsors & venues can change overnight (money talks)

Fact #6 Yahya and Absoloot Boxing have promoted the largest women’s boxing events and done more for women’s boxing than any other promoter. This was done with people like Chris M., Burt, Chris W., Rob, Tim, Lalia and a few others.

Fact #7 Only those on the inside of women’s boxing feel like this fight is necessary when in fact most people who watch boxing do not know who Ann, Valerie, Lucia, Sumya.

So does Absoloot really need any of these girls to promote Laila? I think not. When the media forces a fight the public will follow (public is money) where the public demands Absoloot will answer and I think they will answer with a fight (revenue).”
