This advertisement for a female bout to be featured at the Gastonia Armory in Belmont, North Carolina to take place on September 11, 1948.  The fight was scheduled for six rounds between Tiger Louis, of St. Louis, MO  vs. Betty Lynn, of Atlanta, Georgia.  This card also included Guy Brown, who was set to fight Gus Aldridge of Macon, Georgia in a scheduled 10-round bout.   In an eight-round semi-final bout, Kim Kelly of Charloote would face Frankie Roberts of Reidsville.  This was a rematch for these two where Kelly won in their first fight.

The Gastonia Gazette, dated September 11, 1948 wrote the following about the female boxing attraction:  “The special six-round attraction is a good one, what with two of the fairer sex knocking the daylights out of each other.  Tiger Louise of St. Louis MO, goes after Betty Lynn of Atlanta in the first Women’s boxing bout ever to be unveiled in Gastonia—that is inside the ring.”
